Blog Entry No. 4: Home Nursing Techniques; Signs & Symptoms of Illnesses & Diseases


1.  If you are a good home nurse, what are the various home nursing techniques that you need to apply that will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery?       
     -As a good home nurse I will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery  by entertaining him/ her and at the same time administer her needs.
2.  Why should the home nurse monitor the vital signs of the patient?
     -To see if the patient has any sickness.
3.  How do you take the body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure of the patient?
     -Body temperature is taken by a thermometer; Pulse rate is taken by putting the middle and index finger toward the end of your wrist; and the blood preassure is taken by a sphygmomanometer.
4.  What are some practices that the home nurse must follow that will  promote comfort to the patient?
      -The home nurse must be cheerful and responsible in order for the patient to have comfortability.
5.  How will you differentiate signs from symptoms of illnesses and diseases?

6.  If you are the doctor, what will be your basis in giving the diagnosis for your patient?
     -The patient's vital signs would be my diagnosis.

 MAKING A BED

1.) Why do we need to know how to make an occupied and an unoccupied bed?
      -We need to know how to make an occupied and unoccupied bed so that we won't experience difficulties in making these things and so that the patient won't experience or have a feeling of uncomfortability, because the patient will stay here until he/ she gets well. By learning this we can help the patient recover faster.

2.)  How does making a bed help in the fast recovery of our patient?
      -Making a bed helps in the fast recovery of our patient by making the patient comfortable and more relaxed. It helps by keeping the patient away from the bacteria present in the old top and bottom sheets. When the patient experience comfortability he/ she will recover faster.

3.)  As a good home nurse, how will you be able to render your services to your patient through bed making?
       -


BATHING THE PATIENT
1.) Why do you need to give a bath to the patient?
     - You need to give a bath to the patient to keep him/ her fresh and clean. In this way, the patient will be far from bacterias and diseases which can lead to sickness.

2.)  What are the materials needed for bed bath and sponge bath?
      - Soft Sponge, Soap, Water

3.) What's the imporstance of urinal or bedpan?
      -It helps the patient not to have extra movements when he/she urinates. This also helps because it is convinient. You can just put it beside of the bed to have easier way.

4.) What do you mean by bak rub?
      -It is the manipulating of deeper layers of our muscle and connective tissues by using various techniques.

5.) How do you differentiate cold from hot compress?
     -Hot compress  is the application of heat to any part of the body to relieve certain kinds of pain. This hot compress can be applied in many ways such us, hot towel, hot water, etc. In the same purpose the cold compress also can relieve certain kinds of pain but the ice is used to do this method.

Why do you think health care to the individual, to the family and to the community is important?

Answer:

            Health is wealth basically the general condition of a human being's body and mind and health care supports our health everytime we feel weak and not strong enough to make our daily work or activities. It is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, illness, injury and other physical and mental impairments of people. This is delivered by doctors, nurses or anyone that can give care to the one who needs. It is essential in our life. Without this we will not be strong again like what we were before our sickness. Well apparently, health care is one of our basic needs beside water, oxygen and food.

            Health care is important to us, humans, because it helps us our health which is our wealth. It is important it helps us to recover faster whenever we have sickness, whenever we feel pain. The head ache, stomach ache and all that aches that we feel that causes distruction to what we do can be healed by health care fast. It helps us in every pain that we feel. It prevents us from bacteria that leads us to sickness and sometimes till death. In other words, health care helps us survive our daily lives.

            Our health is something that needs attention and care. Health care supports our health and makes us stronger. It helps us in times we suffer from pain through simple ways. Health care will keep us healthy and free from anything that causes pain. These reasons that I have given explains why health care to the individual, to the family and to the community is important!

1. What significant insights have you learned from the topic?
I have learned that the patient must ask the doctor for the right kind of medicine and it's right dosage. In this way, the patient can lessen the pain that he or she is experiencing. 
The medicine is taken at a specific time, specified in many ways; by clock or by the patient's daily activities like before and after sleeping and taking meals. 
The home nurse must make sure that the medicine that the or she has given to the patient is prescribed by the doctor.
2. How does proper administering of medicines help our patients in their recovery?
The proper administering of medicines help our patients in their recovery by helping the patient recover faster and help the patient lessen the pain.
